I was stationed 12 years at Whidbey and was tickled with this effort. The work is produced in the familiar "Images of America" style so you know what you're getting here; lots of B&W pictures with captions carrying most of the message. It was done with the help of the base PAO shop and other sources and offers an excellent largely chronological presentation of NAS Whidbey Island over the years from WWII through about 2015. Pictures are a good mix of places/buildings, people and aircraft. Captions are good and the author is to commended for his correct use of the Navy's frequently mis-understood pre 1962 aircraft designation system. Highly recommended for anyone who used to live or fly at NUW and want to see what it used to look like before Kow Korner went away.

Excellent history of NAS Whidbey! I was there 1992-1995 and had no idea about many of the facilities I drove by on a daily basis. This was recommended by a friend that still lives up there and I look forward to taking the book with me on my next visit to see what remains of the rich history.Great job Mr Stein. Thanks Ron!
