What a beautifully written, heart warming read and great encouragement!Kelly Walk Hines describes her growing up largely immersed in violence and abuse and the effect this had on her life. I like the author's approach in this book. She addresses the bystander, and what you can do to pay attention to the situation. She also addresses the one in the center of abuse with strong encouragement on how to rise up from the situation. She then addresses the abuser, exposing their illusions and excuses.In every chapter, Kelly Walk Hines tells her story and ends with what she learned. Not only does she talk about how what she went through made her stronger and stronger but how you too can come out strong regardless of what you may be going through, big or smallDespite all the sadness in this book, I like how on the flipside, this is really an encouraging, happy ending. Great read, highly recommended!

Wow! This book really opened my eyes to another world. There are so many valuable lessons learned from the author’s experiences and personal tragedies. I love how she has been able to finally let her voice be heard so that others don’t have to go through what she did. I hope that people who have been abused in any way can read this book and learn the great things this book offers. The author really finds a way to transform frightening experiences, controlling relationships and helplessness into some of the greatest lessons one can learn, particularly about love (self love and love for others) and forgiveness. I can’t wait to see how she worked through her relationship with her dad and siblings as an adult. I think it will be filled with so much value for readers.
